How It Came About
Almost Amy was formed in 2004 as a very special labor of love – my love of creating designs that other fiber enthusiasts will use and enjoy. This web site will help make that a reality. I hope that crocheters, especially, will benefit from being able to find patterns to make beautiful garments out of fabulous yarns. So often I hear complaints that there are zillions of wonderful patterns for knitters but only a handful for crocheters.
A Guide to the Site
The pattern section of my site is my small effort to rectify that situation. Click one of the patterns links for my crochet pattern portfolio. You can order any that you'd like to add to your library. I will be adding more from time to time.
If you'd like to learn crochet, the site has a schedule of the classes I teach - regularly in the Washington D.C. area, and at many of the major crochet and knitting conferences and events. You’ll also find links to other crochet information, as well as to yarn and equipment sources, including the maker of the 13.5mm hook that I use in some of my patterns. A number of yarn shops carry some or all of my patterns; these stores will be listed soon on this page, too.
Under tips and hints I have included some information that may help if you run into difficulty on my patterns, such as how to do the foundation stitch, a close-up photograph of the decrease method in my Oversized Cropped Pullover, and other useful information.
If you have any questions about my products, please do not hesitate to contact me: www.amysales@almostamy.com. I look forward to hearing from you.
Warm regards,
Karen
Dedication and Thanks
This site and my company name are dedicated to my wonderful mother, who almost named me "Amy."
The superb logo that you see everywhere:
was created by my sister-in-law, also named Karen. I can’t thank her enough.
My husband Steve is the Almost Amy business manager, photographer, and Web site designer. Without him, none of this would have happened.
